Adult Co-Ed Soccer Sign-Ups are Open!

San Carlos Parks & Recreation Department is proud to announce the new Adult Co-Ed Soccer League starting in January 2012. You can sign up through the City’s www.recconnect.net web site.

The San Carlos Adult Coed Soccer league will be 7-on-7 format. The league will be held on Thursday nights, at Highlands Park, with game times at 7pm, 8pm & 9pm. The season will be 8 games, plus playoffs. We will offer two divisions – Competitive & Recreational.

Arbor Day at Laureola Park

The City is looking for volunteers to join San Carlos Parks & Recreation Department and San Carlos Lions Club as we celebrate San Carlos’s first Arbor Day!

Join us on Saturday, December 10, 2011 at 10:00am at Laureola Park, located at 503 Old County Road.

Participants will help plant 6 new trees and distribute mulch in and around the newly renovated playground at Laureola Park!  Supplies including brooms, shovels, and wheelbarrows will be provided; please bring your own gardening gloves.  We look forward to seeing community members out there!

The City of San Carlos and Recology San Mateo County invite San Carlos residents to the San Carlos Compost Giveaway.  Each resident is welcome to take up to 5 gallons of nutrient rich compost to enrich their gardens.

The event is for San Carlos residents only – no commercial gardeners, please.
Bring proof of residence.  And remember, it’s BYOB – bring your own bags and buckets.

Laureola Playground Ribbon Cutting – September 24th at 10:00 am

Everyone in San Carlos is invited to join the celebration of the completion of the Laureola Playground Renovation Project on Saturday, September 24, 2011 at 10:00am. Laureola Park is located at 503 Old County Road.

The improvement project includes a complete renovation of both the tot play area at the park in addition to the play area for ages 5 to 12, and the addition of a new splash pad water feature, similar to the one added to Burton Park during that playground renovation project. The new structure will have a nature look and feel, with more climbing pieces, swings, slides, and imaginative play features than the earlier equipment.

San Carlos Enters Pulgas Creek in “Adopt a Hot Spot” Contest

As part of this year’s Creek Clean Up Days campaign, the City of San Carlos has entered Pulgas Creek, which runs through San Carlos and parts of unincorporated San Mateo County adjacent to San Carlos, for Save The Bay’s “Adopt a Hot Spot” contest.

We need your vote to make Pulgas Creek the winning spot! Pulgas Creek is up against four other hot spots around the Bay Area. The hot spot with the most votes will be adopted by Save The Bay, who will in turn host cleanups at the site in 2012.

Go to the contest web site to vote – and be sure to spread the word! Help us ensure that Pulgas Creek is the winning hot spot!
