Burton Park Phase II Project Naming Opportunities

Burton Park is the oldest and best known of the City’s developed parks and serves as the central park for San Carlos. The central location and the diversity of activities attracts a wide spectrum of users. The park is heavily utilized year round and is located next to the City’s teen center and Kiwanis Recreation Center.

In 2008, the playgrounds were renovated and a water feature was added. Funding the Burton Park playground renovation was largely through the efforts of the Park and Recreation Foundation. The Foundation raised $446,000, with the City contributing $415,000 as part of the CIP Budget.

The City of San Carlos, together with the Parks and Recreation Foundation of San Carlos, has identified Burton Park Phase II as their next fundraising project. Phase II proposes three distinct improvements to Burton Park: a permanent outdoor stage, bocce ball courts, and renovation of the existing basketball courts. The City of San Carlos and the Parks and Recreation Foundation are seeking funding partners to assist with raising $387,500 to complete the Burton Park Phase II project.

A variety of opportunities are available enabling you to support this exciting project. Naming opportunities are available for individual features including:

1.  Outdoor Stage

The stage will be permanent and include a covering. Potential uses include musical performance currently offered through our Summer Concert Series, movies in the park, Children’s Theater performances, and small performances including puppet and magic shows. Typical attendance at a summer concert is 1,200 -1,500.  The footprint of the state will include an area immediately in front of the state that will accommodate dancing as well as tables and chairs (i.e. pavers, concrete).

2. Basketball Court Renovation

The courts will feature a colorful overlay along with new standards and backboards.

3.  Bocce Ball Courts

There will be two standard size bocce ball courts that will include a storage shack and shaded seating.  Bocce Ball is growing  in popularity throughout Northern California and cities throughout the Peninsula have installed courts.

These Amenities are designed to serve a broad range of ages and require minimal routine maintenance.   If interested, Please contact the Parks and Recreation Foundation of San Carlos at (650) 802-4317, P.O.Box 191, San Carlos CA 94070 or at www.prfsancarlos.org
